Leviathan

It is the cusp of World War I, and all the European powers are arming up. The Austro-Hungarians and Germans have their Clankers, steam-driven iron machines loaded with guns and ammunition. The British Darwinists employ fabricated animals as their weaponry. TheirLeviathan is a whale airship, and the most masterful beast in the British fleet.

Aleksandar Ferdinand, prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is on the run. His own people have turned on him. His title is worthless. All he has is a battle-torn Stormwalker and a loyal crew of men.

Deryn Sharp is a commoner, a girl disguised as a boy in the British Air Service. She's a brilliant airman. But her secret is in constant danger of being discovered.

With the Great War brewing, Alek's and Deryn's paths cross in the most unexpected way...taking them both aboard the Leviathan on a fantastical, around-the-world adventure - one that will change both their lives forever.

Carrie

This book is by Stephen King it is about a young girl named Carrie who doesn't make friends eaisily. After being humiliated and taunted at school one of them takes pity on her and gets her boyfriend, Tommy Ross to ask her to the prom, but another girl who is banned from the prom never is letting go of wanting to humiliate Carrie in front of the whole school, but as it turns out Carrie has special powers and you don't want to get her mad.

This is a good book, if you like this sort of thing, but otherwise it's not great in my opinion, it is a pretty quick read and I would recomend it for some people.

It is then about his adventures about getting out/ solve the maze which the other kids have been trying to solve for two years but have never solved. Insurgent pt. 2

This week I read the other half of Insurgent. This book is very good by the way and if anyone hasn't read it, you should!

After what happened in my other blog post, Tris teams up with Marcus to retrieve information that the Erudite stole. She is caught in the act and identified as a traitor, but somehow convinces Tobias to look at the information. He does and shares it with everyone, and they find out that they were put in the fence because outside the world was falling apart (because humans are bad) and that once Divergent are numerous they should come out and save the world! Dun Dun DUN!

Now I kinda feel like a nerd.

Insurgent

This week I read half of Insurgent. It is, of course, about Tris, and Tobias who visit diffrent factions trying to escape Erudite.  But the Erudite use their simulation powers to their advantage and make it so that a Divergent must turn themself in or else those under the influence of the simulation will kill themselves. Tris goes behind Tobias's back and turns herself in, and is experimented on at Erudite to help them find a simulation that will work on Divergent. She eventually escapes by the help of peter.

That is about where I am right now.
For those of you that don't know, this is the second book in the Divergent trilogy, it is very good and if you havn't read it yet you should.

Divergent

This week I read Divergent. Acctually not this week but over Spring break. I know.
"Oh my gosh Max, you haven't read Divergent until now!"
Yeah I acctually didn't hear about it until Allegiant came out.

But for those of you that for a very slim chance haven't read Divergent yet. It is a future distopian world with a girl named Beatrice. The world is split up into five diffrent factions. Amity, the peaceful. Abnegation, the selfless. Candor, the honest. Erudite, the intelligent, and Dauntless the brave. When people are 16 they take a aptidute test to place them into one of these factions. If you can't fir in, it is called Divergent, and that is very dangerous in this world, you might get killed. So, Beatrice hides in the Dauntless to not be caught as a Divergent.

I don't want to give everything away but if you haven't read this (which is probably none of you) you should. It is very well written and is a very good book.

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

This week I read half of Divergent. I know some people say they read it in 2 hours, but what can I tell you, I'm a slow reader. Before I start this is on my top three list for best books I have ever read, the other two are, half brother and Eragon.

Anyway for those of you that don't know (which is probably none of you) this book is about a girl named Beatrice. Her world is split up into five different factions and they take aptitude tests to figure out which they fit into. However, when she takes the test her results are "inconclusive" and she is Divergent. In her world this is bad and she can get killed for it. She has to pick one of the factions to hide in. She picks Dauntless the brave. She has lots of adventures and stuff. I don't want to give anything away if someone hasn't read it, and also there would be a lot to say if I wanted to.

Threatened

This book is about a buy named Luc. Luc's mother left and this man named Prof comes to town. When Luc tries to rob him,  Prof isn't mad, instead he offers Luc a job. Together, Luc and Prof head into the jungle, they have an adventure and have to escape some dangers. Soon, Luc becomes familiar with a new family, of chimps, and Luc must act when his new family is attacked.

I didn't want to give all of the book away, so I'll stop there. This is a very well written book, I like it especially because it's about chimps. But I think everyone might like it. I wouldn't set it as a priority though because it isn't my favorite thing in the world.

The Clockwork Three

This week I read the rest of the book called The Clockwork three. I don't really want to give all of it away but it is a very good book. It turns out that every one of them (there are three people: Hannah, Fredrick, and Giuseppe) hold the keys to the others success. In other words, Fredrick and Hannah helped Giuseppe get what he wanted, Fredrick and Giuseppe helped Hannah, and Hannah and Giuseppe helped Fredrick.

Anyway, this book is really well written, the ending is amazing and I think it has a very good story line to it. It isn't a slow read, I got through half of it in three days (it's like 350 pages) its one of those books that you can't put down and the time flies by when you are reading it.

the clockwork three

This book is about three people. One is named Giusueppe another is Hannah and the last is Fredrick.

Giusueppe is a musican that plays out on the streets. However, he has to give all of the money he makes to a man called Stephano. If you don't bring back enough he would punish you. Then, Giusueppe then finds a green violin. It makes a beautiful noise. He gets a lot of money from it. But he hides it to save up for a boat ticket out a there. He then, gets betrayed by one of his friends that he gives money to. His friend shows Stephano his stash. Then, he tries to run away at that moment. He escapes but he is on the run for his life.

Hannah is a maid at a hotel. Then, one day this strange person comes to the hotel. She wants Hannah to be her personal assistant for the rest of her stay. The people at the hotel are mean to her so she accepts. They go to an opera with Fredrick. Because they asked Fredrick to make an automaton for them. After that, her father gets very sick, and the doctor says they have to amputate or get a very expensive medicine. They decide to get the medicine. But they can't afford it so Hannah asks her "master" to loan the money to her. When she runs back to the hotel and finds her helping the people that she didn't like at the hotel to find some "treasure". Hannah got mad so she stole a necklace and told one of her friends to sell it. Her friend gives it back to the head manager of the hotel and Hannah gets fired.

Fredrick is an  apprentice clock master. He is secretly building a giant clockwork man because he wants to get into a hard clockwork business to get into when he's older. He steels a coal shute for the chest, and then he starts on the hardest part. The head. Then, one day Hannah comes with her "master", and she asks him to make an automaton for them. Then, one day, he goes to the person Hannah's following and asks her about it he also asks where Hannah is and she says she doesn't work here anymore. Then the strange guest has to leave for a mysterious reason and has to cancel the order.

I really like this book. I'm not done with it yet because it's a two week book, but I would defiantly give it a 5/5 stars.

Island of blue dolphins

For my children's classic I read The Island of Blue Dolphins. It's a story about an Indian girl  named Karana who is on an island that is shaped like a fish sunning itself around it there are lots of creatures like blue dolphins( of course) and otters and other animals. Her tribe sails to the east but they leave her there. For many years she waits for a ship to come and get her It's the story of how she grows up, making shelter, making weapons, finding food and fighting wild dogs. I found this book kind of boring acctually and it is kind of similar to Hatchet. I've never heard of this book untuil now and I wouldn't give a high recommendation but if you have nothing to do, be my guest.

They then start teaching Zan sign language when he is two months old. Ben goes through a pretty normal life with things at school homework and girls. Ben then becomes to really like Zan and Zan really likes Ben. Then Ben has to make the decision of beliving what he belives is true or what he is being told to keep Zan from a horrible fate.

Frankenstein

This book is wow. That's all I have to say. It's really awesome like i said in my other blog I really liked it. The part that I said when I was at a confusing fpart was when. The creator or Victor Frankenstien creates the monster. However the confusing part was when the monster killed his wife and then his dad dies of guilt. To me that part is really confusing. That' not spoiling anything  The book is still really getting lots of details that I missed.  I recommend this to everyone

Frankenstien

I really liked this book not just because it was a classic and not because it was just awesome. I loved this book because it was written well. I hadn't known what my favorite writing style was untuil now. It is very good, and it's also not like all of the Disney cartoons (if they have one about frankenstien) it's very good. ( I know I said this a million times but) this book is very good. I think everyone in the class should read this at one point or another because........it's really good. I think this book should very well stay a classic for the rest of time, it is on of my favorite books now. I think this book is a classic because it kind of shows a lot of things that happen to average people in their social life, and(as I said before) the writing style is very good.

Catcher and the rye

This book is really good. And I don't know how to explain it besides of Max said at the talk about the classic books. It's about a kid at a boarding school and then he goes and runs out to New York basically. It's really good and it's one of my favorite books and I think everyone in the class to get to read it sometime.  It's about 200 pages long  land not that many words per page so it's a pretty quick read.  It's written really well and it's really good book.

THE WORLD WITHOUGHT US

This is a pretty good book by Alan Weisman. I really like this book and i have no idea how he could have written it. There is a lot more than what I heard Linda talk about, ( at least what I heard I might have dozed off for a second) but there is a lot of interesting things in it including a chapter called : 'The World Without War' which is one of my personal favorites. I really like this book and i think you should all read it.
